Poll Everywhere is a free, live-​audience response system where participants can respond to questions by text message (messaging and data rates may apply), web browser, or via the downloadable app for iOS and Android. It is compatible with all devices, including laptops, cell phones/​smartphones, and tablets!

Live-​audience response tools, such as Poll Everywhere, can be used to serve a number of purposes, such as stimulate reflection, challenge the imagination, develop curiosity and sense of inquiry, collect data for analysis, serve as formative assessments, engage larger audiences, and identify areas of student weakness.

How can Poll Everywhere be used in your classroom?

  • Check for understanding before, during, and after a lesson
  • Pre-​activity when students enter class (ex: How do you feel about the upcoming test?)
  • Make classroom decisions (ex: How much more time do you need on the paper?)
  • Assign as a homework assignment (ex: Answer the poll by midnight.)
  • Keep track of student progress (ex: Reply Done” to the poll when you are finished.)
  • Practice study sessions for quizzes/​exams
