Select Add New, then select Create Media. NOTE: This will launch the Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder. Each time you launch the Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder, you will return to the download screen; you DO NOT need to re-download or reinstall the CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder.
Select Presentations & Lectures within the Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder.
From the Recording Options menu, select a webcam, then select 480p or 720p as the recording quality.
Select On for either Screen Capture or Presentation, or set both to Off to record using only the webcam. If Presentation is selected, select Browse to select the PowerPoint file.
From the Sound menu, select a microphone.
Select Record to begin recording.
After a 5 second countdown, a webcam window will display showing the webcam output. Also included are Pause, Done, and Cancel buttons that allow you to start and stop the recording.
NOTE: If recording a presentation, PowerPoint may open minimized on the taskbar. Select the PowerPoint icon to display the presentation.
Select Done when the recording is complete.
A preview window will load and play back the recording. NOTE:Segments of the recording can be removed via the Trim and Chop editing tools, as desired. Trimming and Chopping is only possible if the resulting video is longer than 10 seconds.
Trim will remove video outside of the blue selections sliders.
Chop will remove video within the blue selection sliders.
(OPTIONAL) If Edits (trim or chop) are made, select Apply.
Select Done when you are finished previewing/editing the recording.
Modify the Title so that it is distinctive. (OPTIONAL)Enter a description and/or tags.
Select Upload to upload the recording to your Kaltura My Media gallery. NOTE:Recordings must be uploaded to the Kaltura My Media gallery in order to be embebbed into a D2L course. If you select Save, instead of Upload, your recording will be saved in the CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder Library until you select theUpload option.
In your web browser, select the back button to return to the My Media gallery. NOTE: The file will not appear in My Media until it has been processed by the Kaltura server. The amount of time required to process will depend on the file size.
